Trouble using XM PCR with MacOS 10.6 Snow Leopard

I have an XM PCR that I've been using on MacOS 10.5 with MacXM for a long time. I just upgraded to a new computer running MacOS 10.6 "Snow Leopard" and find that MacXM doesn't work anymore.

Looking around, it would appear I should be using JXM instead. I found the latest Snow Leopard compatible FTDIUSBSerialDriver and installed that. Then I found the javax.comm libraries mentioned in this thread http://www.xm411.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=33653 and installed them.

Unfortunately, JXM still doesn't work. It starts and shows me the initial window. When I try to click the "Power" button, it says "please pick a device before powering up" and opens the Preferences window. In the Device List I see:

/dev/tty.usbserial-00004006
/dev/cu.usbserial-00004006

and four bluetooth related entries. When I select either of the usbserial devices, JXM hangs and then crashes.

I suspect that perhaps the javax.comm libraries aren't Snow Leopard compatible. Has anyone had any luck running JXM on Snow Leopard? Can you share?

Thanks,

--Jim--

XM PCR and Snow Leopard

JJD,
Did you ever get this working? I switched back to Leopard as I could never get it working on my iMac.

No - I haven't gotten in working yet and I'd love to hear if anyone has.

Working for me

I had only one problem keeping my JXM working after upgrading to Snow Leopard. JXM is a Java application, but is also a PowerPC application, so when I launched it after the upgrade, I was required to download and install Rosetta. When that was done everything works fine, with the one exception being JXM will not shut down by clicking JXM>QuitJXM. I have to Force Quit the application. Annoying but no big deal. I also upgraded to the latest FTDI driver for Snow Leopard, but JXM was working before that, so I upgraded the driver just to be on the safe side. I would like to see someone recompile JXM to be native to Intel, but I doubt that's going to happen since there probably aren't that many XMPCR's still in use. I still like mine though.
