The first SIRIUS factory-installed option will appear in the 2006 Mitsubishi Raider. The midsize truck, which was recently unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, will be available in dealer showrooms in the fall of 2005.

"Mitsubishi Motors is pleased to offer premium satellite radio programming from SIRIUS first on the all-new Raider, one of our flagship vehicles," said David Schembri, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. "As part of our dedication to developing vehicles that are fun to drive, we are committed to making this unparalleled entertainment experience available across the Mitsubishi product line."

SIRIUS will come standard with the Mitsubishi Motors' Premium Audio System package. All 2006 and 2007 model year SIRIUS-equipped vehicles will include a six-month, pre-paid subscription service and free activation.

Mitsubishi drivers will be able to enjoy more than 120 channels of digital-quality programming including 65 channels of commercial-free music, plus more than 55 channels of news, weather, traffic, information, comedy entertainment and sports, such as the entire NFL live "play-by-play" game lineup; NBA games and college sports from the top schools in the country.

"Mitsubishi buyers can look forward to the exciting opportunity of outfitting their vehicles with the best in satellite radio programming from SIRIUS," said Doug Wilsterman, Senior Vice President and General Manager OEM Division for SIRIUS. "SIRIUS will make the Mitsubishi driving experience all that more pleasurable."

Following the 2006 Raider, Mitsubishi Motors plans to offer SIRIUS as a factory installed option in three additional models for the 2007 model year.

That is the actual big deal of this one.

Alot of people do the premium package for the better gear or speakers and now Sirius will be standard in that package.

That is good news.

Its good that these small car companies are getting on board - creates more subscribers and word of mouth. Better it had been with XM, but this is still a plus for the industry. But they only have about 2% of the industry sales.

I hope XM announces Hyundai soon.

Doubt it. Hyundai will probably go with SIRIUS. DaimlerChrysler, Mitsu and Hyundai are all partners (Global Engine Alliance).

If Sirius were selling camshafts you might have a point there.

All the car makers have various alliances on this, that, or the other. GM and Ford build transmissions together. So what.

Mitsubishi, however, is owned in large part by chrysler.

Chrysler holds a 10.5% stake in Hyundai. Mitsubishi holds a 4.8% stake. DaimlerChrysler owns 37% of Mitsu.

All three have held hands for a very long time.
