Welcome to XM411 TheWesternCanuk,

When i purchase this item it comes with a home kit. I have to purchase a car kit if i want to use the FM function of the unit?

True. You must purchase a car kit for the the FM modulator to work.

Can this unit operate by itself with battery and listen to live XM Radio?

Yes, the Inno can operate as a portable and receive LIVE XM Radio.

In this state can I use the record function? Can i use the record function as a timer in my vihicle? Say when i'm at the office can i leave it in my car and set a timer to record something at 10:00 AM for an hour?

You can record at any time buy pushing the (((XM))) button and choosing the RECORD option.
You can NOT record scheduled recording in your car unless...you have the home dock and have an "Always ON" circuit powering the home dock.

Can the unit use the FM function in any other state other then the car adapter? Home adapter? plugged into the wall?

The FM Modulator will only work in the car cradle.

If you can buy an Inno with Firmware V1.05, the FM modulator will work whenever you want it to. Look on the outside box to see if it says you have the FM modulator available. The boxes that have the Innos with the updated firmware has a sticker covering the FM modulator option.

The Inno battery should last about 5 hours on a full charge in the Live mode.

I dont think they make Inno2 V1.05... Inno2 means it comes with SureConnect while V1.05 means it has the Integrated FM Modulator.. It is my understanding you cannot not have both....

I just purchased a refurbished Inno-1 from Myradiostore.com. I have 2 Airware units. The Inno is a HUGE upgrade from the Airware. It's smaller, easier to use, with a nice colorful screen. I love the 10 minute buffer for recording purposes.

The only drawback is the fact that the FM modulator option works only in the car dock & not the home dock. BUT that's not XM or Pioneer's fault. That's our wonderful FCC(so use the car dock for home/car).

My Inno unit came with a bum battery, but Myradiostore is sending me a replacement battery(I also ordered a 2nd battery for emergencies).

I was on the fence about spending $99 for the Inno-1. No more. I've had it for <1 week and I'm glad I made the purchase. I would recommend buying the car kit(for the FM modulator).

Is there a way to use the Inno in a car without the dock? That is, can you plug the car antenna directly into a port on the Inno and can you plug the a line out into my stereo system?

If you google it, there are a few dealers that specifically sell the 1.05 firmware inno... but they charge way over the current market price for it... like 300 bux...

Ebay is your cheapest bet.

It used to be that there were always at least 2 or 3 1.05 innos up for sale, but they really have dried up.

The best thing to do now is to ask the seller's a question on the firmware version. I did this and just found (and won) a 1.05 inno for 120 shipped.

Yes its slightly more expensive than myradiostore, but this one has the FM mod as I like and I'm willing to live with the battery drain issue to keep the FM mod.

I'm far from from an expert, but it was suggest to me(by myradiostore.com)to run the firm update. I was told by the CSR at myradiostore.com that the Inno -1's had some software "issues",but they were easily corrected by running the current firmware update.

I ran the update & have not any issues at all.

No you cannot plug an antenna directly into the Inno.

Yes you can plug the headphones (line out) into the stereo.

Do you think Ziggy will offer an adapter for the antenna like the one he has for the MyFi? That was very helpful when using my MyFi in rental cars! I would just carry an old magnetic car antenna with me and run it through a window and plug into the side port on the MyFi. Seems the same thing can be done for the Inno.

See: http://www.myradiostore.com/antennas-cables/for-myfi-xm2go/myfi-antenna-adapter.html

I guess the downside is the Inno has no FM without the dock. The MyFi does output FM without its dock. I guess that lessens the chance he will offer an adapter.

That is also the primary reason I'll continue to use the MyFi in my vehicle. I can grab it and use the clip-2 antenna on my wife's hood and it works in her car, with no car kit. Inno can't do that unless you run 1.05 firmware Confused

Thanks, FCC.

Well, the adapter could have a power tail so you could plug in the power adapter that has the built in FM transmitter. That is like the Delphi SA10081 Universal Audio Adapter SkyFi/Roady Wireless FM Modulator. http://www.myradiostore.com/fmmodulators/delphi-skyfi-wireless-fm-modulator.html
