DUAL XM Direct Ready Radios

DUAL has shown their latest car stereo head units which are XM Direct Ready. What does this mean? Its simple. As with most existing XM Radio Ready headunits, not only do they require the XM Direct tuner box, but they will also need a smart adapter (usually costing another $50) to connect between the XM Direct tuner and the actual radio head unit to translate the communication protocols.

DUAL has created three new radios that will connect DIRECTLY to the XM Direct tuner boxes without any other components needed!

The XM Direct Ready DUAL head units will start as low as $129, and with the additon of just a $49 XM Direct tuner, you will have a completely integrated XM Radio in your front dash for under $180!

Check out these pictures of the new head units.

So do these HUs require another cable in addition to the $50 XMDirect box? If so, how much will that be?

Probably a inexpensive cable if the receiver doesn't come with one standard. In the picture it looks like the extension cable that comes with the XM Commander.

Dual Head unit

I just recieved the Dual XMP7000 unit for Christmas. It seemed to come with just about every cable needed to properly set up the unit to recieve XM out of the box. There is even an Aux RCA input in case you want to add an iPod or what ever to firther increase the capabilities of the unit. I will let you know about the quality of the unit when I get it installed later this week. I am looking forward to my first XM experience, though I have never had any experience with any Dual brand equipment before (and I used to sell car stereos, so that is saying a lot).

So anyone tried this unit? I was in Best Buy today and saw them. I was going to get another XM Commander but was wondering if this was any better, same or not worth the time. Anyone know? Does MyRadioStore sell them? Also, from what I saw, it had everything in the box except your subscription to get you going. Had the xm bow, cables, the works.

Smurfe Very Happy

The DUAL XM Direct-ready head units don't come with everything. They still need the XM Direct tuner box (available for $50) and an antenna (not sure if one comes with the XM Direct tuner or not)... then you'd be all set!

That looks like a bundle Best Buy has worked... because I don't believe the head units themselves come with the XM Direct receiver normally.
